Tier 1 (Post Study Work) schemes have been confirmed as launching on Monday 30 June. The tier 1 will consist of four sub-categories---
Tier 1 (General); Tier 1 (Investors);Tier 1 (Entrepreneurs);Tier 1 (Post Study Work).
All Tier 1 applications must be made by post. It is not possible to make your application at a public enquiry office.
Transitional Arrangements for Participants of IGS
Those who are residing in the UK on IGS visa can apply for extension of their leave to remain for further one year or for such a duration to enable them complete two years on IGS visa. This transitional measure will only be in place after the IGS is removed from the Immigration rules that is (after 30th of June 2008).
Please note: persons who want to apply for the International Graduate Scheme (IGS) or Post Study Work (PSW) at Bachalor, Master, PhD, PgCert, or PgDip must receive their degree from an institution listed on the DIUS list of Recognized Bodies or Listed Bodies or Included on Tier4 Sponsor register.
Changes from 1st of September 2007
From the 1st of September 2007 it will only be possible to switch into a student visa if a person is currently in the UK as a:
** Work permit holder;
** Sabbatical officer;
** Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme participant; or an
** International Graduate Scheme (IGS) participant.
** Working holidaymakers and student dependents will no longer be able to switch into the student or prospective student category in the UK. They will need to return to their home countries and apply for entry clearance to re-enter the UK.
**If an application is made late this can result in an automatic refusal of the visa application with no right of appeal. Therefore please ensure that you check your visa end date and apply before this date to avoid an automatic refusal.
